What to do when God seems unresponsive
Have you ever called out to God, only to feel like you’re getting a busy signal? Why would God put us on hold when we need Him the most? Encouraging lessons from John chapter 11.
Living Bridges
People who live in Cherrapunji, India, have developed a unique way to get across the many rivers and streams in their land. They grow bridges from the roots of rubber trees. These “living bridges” take between 10 to 15 years to mature, but once they are established, they are extremely stable and last for hundreds of years.
(Another) Piece of Relationship Advice
Written By P.Cheong With the (somewhat) recent proliferation of online magazines and the tsunami of relationship advice that comes with it, young people are bombarded with ideas of love, relationships, and marriage. And I suspect that this is what you are thinking about too. We’re all at that distressing stage in life where relatives (you […]
The Enemy Of Trust
Military commanders always want to have enough troops to accomplish their mission. Most would prefer having too many not too few, but not everyone agrees on just how many troops will be enough.
When Gideon recruited an army of 32,000 men to stand against those who oppressed the Israelites, the Lord told him, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me’” (Judg. 7:2).
Paranoia In Reverse
I remember watching television news reports in 1991 as the nonviolent revolution took place in the streets of Moscow. Russians who had grown up in totalitarianism suddenly declared, “We will act as if we are free,” taking to the streets and staring down tanks. The contrast between the faces of the leaders inside and the masses outside showed who was really afraid, and who was really free.
Go! Trust Me.

Where do we turn when life gets out of hand?
It’s a dad’s job to fix what’s broken. But what can a father do when he’s powerless to heal his own family? Let’s look at a conversation between Jesus and a desperate dad with an overwhelming need.
Let’s turn to God’s Word for some insight on what makes a good dad
Being a dad is a tough job. It seems everyone has a different opinion on what qualities make up a good father. Hear a study in Mark chapter 9.
The View From The End
Over the course of one year, Richard LeMieux’s lucrative publishing business collapsed. Soon, his wealth disappeared, and he became depressed. Eventually, LeMieux began to abuse alcohol and his family deserted him. At the lowest point in his life, he was homeless, broken, and destitute. However, it was during this time that he turned to God. He later wrote a book about what he learned.
Anchors In The Storm
When Matt and Jessica tried to navigate their sailboat into a Florida inlet during Hurricane Sandy, the craft ran aground. As the waves crashed around them, they quickly dropped anchor. It held the sailboat in place until they could be rescued. They said that if they had not put down the anchor, “We would have lost our boat for sure.” Without the anchor, the relentless waves would have smashed the vessel onto the shore.
Waiting for God to show up
Anticipating medical test results, standing in a long line, sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, sometimes waiting seems impossible! Let’s study a passage in Mark chapter 5 where a woman has been waiting 12 years for God to show up and heal her. What was taking Him so long?
A powerful illustration on the compassion of Christ
Let’s continue our study in Mark, chapter one. It’s the story of a man stricken with a deadly disease, and his personal appointment with the Great Physician, Jesus Christ.

Promises Still Kept
In the ancient Near East a treaty between a superior (a lord or king) and an inferior (his subjects) was called a suzerain treaty. The ratification ceremony required animals to be sacrificed and cut in half. The animal parts were then arranged in two rows on the ground, forming an aisle between them. As the suzerain walked between the halves, he was publicly declaring he would keep the covenant and would become like the slain animals if he failed to keep his word.
