3 Reasons Why We Should Stop Church-Shopping
Written By Ashley Ashcraft, USA Are you guilty of church-shopping? Church-shopping is when people hop from church to church, never quite settling or putting down roots anywhere. This is especially prevalent among people who are setting out on their own for the first time. Perhaps it’s the college kid who is trying to find a […]
My Fears Held Me Back From Serving God
“I will dedicate my life to serve Jesus.”
I made this promise to God and myself after overcoming my addiction to pornography. I had been struggling with pornography addition for some time. But by God’s grace, He opened my eyes and delivered me from it. So I decided to serve Him with my life.
A Pastor’s Letter to the Church: It’s Not All About You
Dear Church,
I’m writing to you to express, what is for me, one of the greatest challenges of ministry: I want to please you.
All throughout the Gospel, Jesus tells us to love our neighbors, our enemies, and each other. You can’t be a true minister of the Gospel without loving people. And when you love people, there is a strange internal desire to please them, to make them happy.
God Met Me In the Midst Of My Anxieties
What should I do after graduating? What job should I look for? Should I start something of my own? Should I pursue a higher level of education? Is this the right time for a relationship?
These are normal questions that all of us have asked at some point in our lives. But for reasons unknown to me, these questions troubled me so badly that they affected my mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
Understanding the Bible: The Book of Acts
The book of Acts is part two of the compelling story of Jesus and reveals how the church was established in spite of extreme opposition. In Understanding the Bible: The Book of Acts, you’ll discover how the Old and New Testaments together present Christianity as a continuation of God’s plan …
When We Found Out Our Baby Had A Heart Defect
When we first found out that our son had ventricle septal defect (VSD), we did not think much of it. Many children are born with holes in their heart, and many of these close over time. But by the third week, it was evident something was not right with our son, N.
More Than A Missionary Kid
“Where are you from?”
That question used to stress me a lot because I couldn’t answer with any one country name. Over time though, I have learned to recognize whatever place God has set me as home. At this point in my life, my answer is “Hong Kong,” where I have been serving as a missionary for nearly two years.
Trekking On When Life Feels Hopeless
A few years ago, my friend and I attempted the relatively simple Helambu Trek in Nepal without a guide. We began the trip after conducting some research and loading the maps on our phones.
The first half of the trek went smoothly. We managed to reach our scheduled rest point for each day and were continually amazed by the magnificent scenery.
Tired of Bad News? You’re Not Alone
“Where is the evidence of your love?”
His words pierced my heart.
“Where is your love for the broken, for those who face injustice?”
I felt offended and hurt by my friend’s quick and harsh reproach, and wanted to remonstrate in my self-righteousness. But my breath caught in my throat, because deep down, a part of me knew that he was right.
It’s Not About the Fish
Sighted numerous times off the coast of Australia’s South Queensland, Migaloo is the first albino humpback whale ever documented. The splendid creature, estimated at over forty feet long, is so rare that Australia passed a law specifically to protect him.
The Bible tells us about a “huge fish” so rare that God had provided it especially to swallow a runaway prophet (Jonah 1:17). Most know the story. The Lord told Jonah to take a message of judgment to Nineveh. But Jonah wanted nothing to do with the Ninevites, who had a reputation for cruelty to just about everyone—including the Hebrews. So…

In All Things
Driving home one evening, I noticed I was low on fuel. Icy rain began striking the windshield, and I groaned at the thought of getting out of my warm car to fill up the gas tank on such a miserable night. But I reluctantly pulled into the next gas station I came to—and promptly did a double take! Through the pouring rain, I saw a woman dancing in the gas station. I sat for a moment and stared in wonder. Why would anyone dance with such joyful abandon on an awful night like this? A rather sad, cold, and lonely moment………………………………………
