I have followed in my father’s footsteps in many parts of my life. I loved spending my childhood outdoors and fishing like he did. I followed him into a long career in the military. I retired from the military and took up golf as a hobby just like he did. But the one thing that I learned from him and I believe is the most important footstep of his that I followed in is starting every single morning with a devotional from Our Daily Bread. My Dad keeps his Bible on the kitchen counter with his Our Daily Bread devotional…
My mom used to listen to the Radio Bible Class on the radio. She also read the Our Daily Bread devotionals every day and the whole family joined in. I got married and got away from it for a while. Then one night when my husband was in the hospital dying, I stayed at a boarding house near the hospital and in the bedroom there was some Our Daily Bread booklets. I took one down and what a comfort it was at that time. The issue seemed to fit my situation. I have been reading the Our Daily Bread ever…
Our Daily Bread devotionals have really been a source of encouragement and spiritual teaching to me as a single mom over the last 14 years. Many times I and my daughter were unable to go to church due to finances/not enough gas to get to church or fellowship with other Christians. We used your devotionals as a starting point to study God’s Word and discuss biblical and life applications of what we read in our bible and your devotional. I like the uplifting stories as well as the quotes at the bottom. We now, years later, still have church at…
Growing up in a good Christian home, in western NY and a good Bible believing and preaching church, our church ordered and made available a supply of Our Daily Bread devotionals to the church family. My parents availed themselves of it so that I grew up with Our Daily Bread and we also listened to Dr. M. R. DeHaan on the radio. Being now in my 60’s and having pastored for some 30 years, my wife and I still use Our Daily Bread for our daily devotions and our church orders and provides a supply of them for our church…
Of recent, I think last month, I was so depressed and downcast because the project I’m working on wasn’t progressing. There was no result and I was almost giving up. As I was reading Our Daily Bread one of those terrible days, the text for that day was Lamentations 3 and includes verses 18-22. My hope was rekindled, I was refreshed in the assurance of the faithfulness and mercy of God. And of a truth, God stepped into the situation. Praise the Lord!
I was first introduced to Our Daily Bread soon after I came to know Christ in 1972 as a teenager. After using it daily for more than 40 years I can honestly say that it has been used by the Lord to draw me closer to Christ. Now these many years later I am a Pastor, but still begin my day with Our Daily Bread, and encourage our congregation to use this excellent resource as we serve as a quantity distributor. Apart from my Bible, I can think of no other resource that has provided me with consistent, valuable, and…

Dr. M. R. DeHaan was a physician who spoke these very words to God while suffering a violent reaction to an injection and hovering in critical condition. God answered that prayer, and Dr. DeHaan followed through on his promise. A year later, he sold his medical practice, home and office equipment to join the Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan.

When her world of financial security and what she thought was happiness came crashing down, Jennifer Stoll questioned her identity. She turned to the Bible and to prayer for help. At the same time she was losing everything materially, she drew close to God and realized, "He was giving me the answer."
Joe Trujillo grew up in a dysfunctional family with alcoholic parents and as a young man ended up in prison with 5 felonies. Feeling utterly hopeless, Joe remembers, "I fell to my knees and cried out to God" one night in my cell. God set him free that night as the words of the Bible came to life in his heart.
