Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. ~ Psalm 27:14

Waiting for just about anything is tough! Vacation. A job offer to come in. An acceptance letter. A pay-check. The right someone. The weekend. A baby. A diagnosis. Healing. Anything.

And we know that God has his perfect plan set out for us, so why is it so hard to wait on God?

Waiting only gets harder when it feels like God has left us to wait on our own. We struggle to believe he’s hearing our prayers. The song ‘Waiting’ by Antione Bradford puts words to the frustration (or desperation) we all feel sometimes.

“Here I am all alone
And I think I might call home
‘Cause its been a while since I have heard your voice
May be by now I can handle your Holy word

So Father please answer me
Oh, Father please answer me

Reflect

Take a few moments to reflect on what you’re waiting for, anxious about, or trying to control. Consider writing these things down in a journal. After you name them, reflect on the goodness of God and His love for you. Tell him, in prayer, how difficult it’s been to trust Him with these things and ask Him for help.

A simple prayer like this can be all we need to get started connecting with God in our Lent journeys. To follow more of our journey through Lent and check out our other Lent devotions click here!
