rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[a] of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross! ~ Philippians 2:7–8

We often hear that we are called to serve others, but knowing how (or even wanting to) serve others can be difficult.

But, serving others is an excellent way to connect with God and love those around you.

Check out this prayer for serving others below—written to encourage you to love and serve those around you today.

A Prayer for Serving Others

Servant God, who left your throne in heaven to rescue the world and me, help me be a servant too. Jesus, who honoured the dishonoured by washing feet and showed love by serving your followers, help me bring dignity to the disgraced and show love through my actions. Give me eyes to see, and ears to hear your voice, and courage and compassion to follow where you lead. Amen.

A simple prayer like this can be all we need to get started connecting with God in our Lent journeys. To follow more of our journey through Lent and check out our other Lent devotions click here!
