If I had to describe my feelings about the current situation of our country in one word, undoubtedly it would be Frustration. The worst economic crisis in our history, shortage of essentials, price increases, seeing and being in long queues to buy essentials, power cuts – all have an equal share in my frustration. My hope is that Sri Lanka will come out of this situation very soon, but the reality is that it’s not going to happen soon; not at least for another six months in human thinking…
That thought adds more to my frustration. However, I can confidently say that I am not hopeless. It’s because I believe in the One who created the heavens and the earth and His living Words are my constant encouragement. My mind goes to Phil 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” As this verse instructs us, I am beginning to intentionally look for things that I could thank the Lord in the midst our country’s bankruptcy. Yes, I am not hopeless because God is in control and He is Sovereign!
