True change comes from God

Dear Friends,

The end of the year is always an exciting time for us here at Our Daily Bread Ministries. It’s when we send out two separate letters to update readers on ministry progress. The aim is so they are familiar with what we do, in order that they could pray for us and partner with us. It’s also a time we make product offers to our readers. We always hope to receive good responses, as it’s our way of bringing the good news of God every year-end.

Bringing the good news this year end

This good news is the message of hope in Jesus Christ for now and eternity; that all who trust in Him would turn away from sin and choose to follow Him, leading to forgiveness and new life. This experience brings about true and lasting change that can only come from the Holy Spirit’s work. And that work comes through obedience to God’s Word, through prayer and depending on the Spirit. That is why we have dedicated so much effort and resource to develop more materials, both in print and digital.

Our efforts in the Bahasa Malaysia ministry

In recent years, we’ve desired to reach out to indigenous Christians in Sabah and Sarawak. We know we cannot do this alone, so we’re grateful to churches and individuals who also believe that Bahasa Malaysia resources can reach the hearts and minds of this special group. This is what we have so far:

  • We are now printing Pedoman Harian, the annual edition of Our Daily Bread in Bahasa Malaysia. They will be ready for distribution by mid-October.
  • We have a series of 10 discipleship booklets called Siri Pemuridan. These are original material written by a local author, specifically for Bahasa-speaking churches. The first set of books 1-5 is now being distributed.
  • We have other resources in BM and Iban, including a short Christmas piece for home caroling and church Christmas events. You can download a sample here.

English and Chinese readers have no lack of Christian resources, whether in print or digital, and some have asked us to focus more on digital for Bahasa. This we are doing, and actively recruiting digital marketers to work with us. However, in many parts of Sabah and Sarawak, internet access is still lacking and printed resources are still the way to go.

God’s Word produces true and lasting change

In recent years several individuals, churches and organisations have intensified efforts to produce BM resources, but more can still be done. We wish to play our part in reaching indigenous Christians with the Gospel’s message of hope, and we’re thankful to partner with local churches to distribute materials for devotion, counseling, bible study and children’s work.

How can people’s lives be changed and how can we be transformed in our thinking and behaviour? Well, true and lasting change comes only from reading and being changed by God’s word. The Word has eternal and everlasting impact.

With this conviction in our hearts, we desire wholeheartedly to serve the Christian community including the indigenous community with biblically-based and Christ-centered resources, both in print and digital. We hope sincerely that you will join us too.
