Australians are set to embark on a national awareness campaign on mental health, with the launch of the inaugural National Mental Health Month in October.
Mental health is a multi-layered, multi-faceted issue impacting all areas of society. Sadly, statistics show that 1 in 5 Australians are suffering from a mental illness in any given year, and over 45 percent of Australians will be affected by a mental disorder in their lifetime. It is most prevalent among those aged 18-24.
We think that it is a great initiative to highlight the need for better mental health awareness in Australia.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some articles for those who might be struggling with a mental illness or other difficulties in life. Our hope is that through these articles you will be encouraged and see how God’s Word can offer comfort and strength in this difficult time.
Just last month, we read reports from the US about a young pastor who took his own life. Take a look at this article from YMI, which offers some insights on this sad news. We pray that it may help you or someone you know.
