We entered the year 2021, with great hope. The Covid-19 pandemic seems to be under control. However, events in February 2021 has changed all that. Myanmar is now faced with many uncertainties on many fronts; Covid-19, civil unrest, and unemployment to name some.
Hope is displaced by a sense of hopelessness, coupled with fears and anxieties, especially of the future. We wonder and ask ourselves, “Does God hear our cries?” “Is our hope gone?” With so much disappointments and uncertainties, where is our true hope?
Let’s hear from: The People In Myanmar
“During this challenging time, my mother passed away at home because of sickness. There was no hospital to bring her to. No medical personnel to take care of her. We are living in the civil war zone at a rural mountain area of Kachin State. Although other villagers from our village run for their lives to somewhere else, I don’t want to run anymore. We are trusting the Lord and holding onto His promises one day at a time.” — Sein Kun, a mother of 2 young children
“We need to face the challenges by putting on the full armor of God by being faithful and righteous, getting ready to share the gospel of peace, and wearing ourselves with faith, salvation and the Word of God.” — Rev. Saw Mya Min Lwin
“It is important for us to know that we are alive because God has a purpose for us to live and to trust that He will deliver us from all our difficulties.” — Joshua Wanna Kyaw

A Message of Hope
The testimonies above reflect the cries of many young people in Myanmar. Some of these have returned home from overseas, excited at the prospect of participating in the rebuilding of the nation as it opens itself to the outside world, with a more liberal economic policy. However, their dreams and hopes are shattered. What lies ahead seem to be a sense of hopelessness amongst many, especially the younger generation. However, there is a message of hope.
Hope: Choosing Faith Instead of Fear
This message of hope is in Jesus Christ. Here is a resource, Hope: Choosing Faith Instead of Fear, in both Myanmar and English language that brings the biblical message that seeks to shine the light of Christ.
