I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. LEVITICUS 26:12
Over 2,000 years ago baby Jesus was laid in a manger for cattle to give us one unmistakable message: the king of the world is here—with His people. “Immanuel”, God with us, has arrived.
Jesus was finally fulfilling what God had desired from the beginning: to walk beside His people, just as He promised the ancient Israelites, “I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people” (LEVITICUS 26:12).

Imagine it. God, clothed in skin, was born and raised in everyday places for anyone to find. He grew up to live a life where He could be encountered on any old street corner or dirt road. Travelling everywhere by foot, crowds from every town flocked to meet Jesus— and He welcomed them, cared for them, loved them and taught them.
Everyone was welcome.
And today, because of His death and resurrection, the way is opened for all of us to know, and walk, with Jesus every day. “Surely I am with you always,” He promises, “to the very end of the age” (MATTHEW 28:20).
It is our prayer that these Our Daily Bread reflections will help you journey through December with your King. As you marvel at His birth, His life, His death and His resurrection, may this festive season be one of drawing even closer to Immanuel, God with us.
In Him,
Your friends at Our Daily Bread Ministries
