Team Responsibility: 1 Finance Assistant (direct report)
We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead the financial management of two entities:
-
- A non-profit entity which receives donations.
- A Private Limited Company which publishes and sells books and merchandise, both B2B and B2C.
The Finance Manager will oversee all financial operations, ensure compliance with Indian laws, manage external relationships, and provide leadership to the finance function. A Finance Assistant will report to this position to support daily operations and routine tasks.
What You’ll Do:
Financial Oversight
- Develop and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with various departments and senior management; track actual vs budget performance and analyse variances.
- Prepare cashflow forecast to support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and review internal control processes and procedures to safeguard assets and eliminate process redundancies.
- Supervise and guide the Finance Assistant in daily bookkeeping, documentation, and record maintenance.
- Ensure accurate accounting records of Sales invoices, purchase/service invoices, Vendor ledgers and payments, Staff payroll, Daily donation receipts (Non-Profit) and sales receipts (Pvt Ltd).
- Work with the CFOO & International Finance Director to ensure coordinated financial processing and reporting.
- Submit monthly reports within deadlines to the International Finance Director.
- Participate in regular meetings with the global finance coordinators and, as required, travel internationally for ministry meetings.
Banking and Reconciliation
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Ensure daily reconciliation of payment gateway transactions.
- Monitor utility payments and ensure timely processing of all operational expenses.
- Maintain cost centres for reporting and analysis.
- Ensure monthly GST filing and reconciliation.
- Manage TDS deduction and quarterly filings.
- Coordinate with auditors for annual Income Tax filing and ROC filings with the MCA via Company Secretary.
- Oversee corporate governance compliance for both entities.
Reporting & Projections
- Generate weekly and monthly financial reports.
- Prepare weekly and monthly payment projection reports for effective cash flow management.
- Provide accurate financial reports for management, board reporting (if applicable), and donor reporting.
Audits & Liaison
- Coordinate internal, external, donor, and statutory audits.
- Liaise with: Auditors (Internal & External), Company Secretary, Banks and financial institutions, and External Authorities (GST, Income Tax, MCA, etc.).
Team Management
- Manage and mentor the Finance Assistant, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and professional development.
- Allocate tasks and monitor progress to meet reporting deadlines and compliance requirements.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualifications with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
- 7–10 years of experience in financial management, including handling both private limited and non-profit accounting.
- Hands-on expertise with Tally and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of Indian tax laws, GST, TDS, Income Tax, MCA filings, and nonprofit financial compliance.
- Experience with donor reporting is desirable.
