But you have rejected, you have spurned, you have been very angry with your anointed one. You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust. You have broken through all his walls and reduced his strongholds to ruins.~ Psalm 89:38-40
“Is God mad at me?” We have all asked ourselves this question. And it can sometimes feel like it answers itself. When nothing seems to be going our way, and life gets a little out of control, it’s easy to feel like God is angry with you or to even feel angry at God.
What we learn from Scripture is that it is okay to feel angry at God, and to tell him about it. He can handle our angry cries and he can comfort us in the same moment.
We’ve put together a Scripture meditation through Psalm 38 to help you talk to God if you’re feeling any of these things today in your Lent journey.
Psalm 89:38–40
38 But you have rejected, you have spurned,
you have been very angry with your anointed one.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant
and have defiled his crown in the dust.
40 You have broken through all his walls
and reduced his strongholds to ruins.
