“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” ~ Joel 2:12
We are half-way through our journey through Lent!
Together, we’ve explored many ways to connect with God on our Lent journey as well as ways to help deal with the chaotic messes life likes to make.
On our final day of the topic of fasting, we look at a short testimony from Grant Wunderlich. He shares the spiritual benefits of fasting he has experienced in his relationship with God.
Testimony Q & A with Grant Wunderlich
Q: Why is fasting something that’s important to you?
Grant: Over the years, fasting has helped me grow closer to the Lord. A mentor challenged me to fast, showing me Scripture and how it’s a powerful tool many never utilise. Fasting to me isn’t depriving yourself of something, but rather a time of spiritual feasting. Any hunger or physical pain is a reminder of my weakness, but more importantly an opportunity to surrender myself, rely on the Lord, and listen to his voice. I’ve found that the times it is most difficult and inconvenient to fast have turned into the sweetest moments of hearing the Lord speak over my life.
