Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. ~ Philippians 4:12–13
You’re feeling overwhelmed by the world and its unreasonable demands, you’re tired, pressured.
At the same time, your heart is burdened with the suffering in your nation, your world, your neighbourhood. You are kept up at night wondering where one can begin to heal the wounds that cut so deep into the heart of everything we know.
Living in such a broken, hurtful world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. It also makes it so apparent how much we need God.
Fasting is a practice that has been used by ancient Israelites and early Christians as a way to realign their focus on God and his provision for them.
As we consider also setting aside distractions in our life for a time, let’s cry out to God, the One who meets every need:
Lamentations 3:21-22
21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
What This Teaches Us about God
He is able to give us hope (v. 21)
He has great love for us (v. 22)
He will not let us be overcome by the circumstances (v. 22)
He is compassionate towards us (v. 22)
