A new believer in Jesus asked Barb, “Would you disciple me?” Barb was uncertain about how to proceed. Should they have a study together? And if so, what topic would be best? She prayerfully picked out a resource to look at together and is finding joy in helping her new friend grow in her understanding of Christ.
New immigrants moved into Sue’s neighborhood. She befriended the young family of seven and invited the kids over to play with her children. Sue began talking with the mom about her Savior and friend, Jesus, and invited the family to church.
Whenever he can, Jerry brings up his faith in Christ when talking with his co-workers. He never pushes his beliefs but shares if someone seems curious. He even started a small discussion group during lunchtime for those wanting to know more about Jesus.
These individuals are following the example of Christ, who said about Himself: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). When Jesus met a woman at a well, their conversation prompted her to believe Jesus could be the Messiah (John 4:4-26). And then she ran back to her village to tell others about Him (v. 29). As a result, “many Samaritans from that town believed in him” (v. 39).
Jesus pursued us in love. Now we have the privilege of continuing His mission of carrying His good news into the world (Matthew 28:19-20). We don’t need to worry about whether we’ll do a perfect job. God will help us to walk with others to discover more of Him. It’s what He’s called us to do.
