Stories of God at Work

from Australia

A broken dream isn’t the greatest tragedy, but a life forever defined by it is. Creating a healthy new normal after the death of a dream is essential. In this condensed version of their documentary, Sheridan and Merryn Voysey understand facing a new normal. In A Journey Through Broken Dreams, they candidly share their struggle with infertility, the decade of medical procedures they endured to try to conceive a child, and the decision to redesign their lives with career changes and a major move to another continent. Their life didn’t go as planned, but ultimately they found peace in their…

The Piercing Question
My Utmost For His Highest

Peter’s response to this piercing question is considerably different from the bold defiance he exhibited only a few days before when he declared, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” (Matthew 26:35 ; also see Matthew 26:33-34). Our natural individuality, or our natural self, boldly speaks out and declares its feelings. But the true love within our inner spiritual self can be discovered only by experiencing the hurt of this question of Jesus Christ. Peter loved Jesus in the way any natural man loves a good person. Yet that is nothing but emotional love.

two houses
Our Daily Journey

In 2010, researchers simulated a category 3 hurricane to test the strength of two houses—one built according to normal construction standards for the region and the other built with a reinforced roof and floors. The researchers turned on giant fans to create wind gusts of 110 miles per hour for more than 10 minutes.

Learn The Cost
Our Daily Bread

We gave our 2-year-old son a pair of new boots recently. He was so happy that he didn’t take them off until it was bedtime. But the next day he forgot all about the boots and put on his old sneakers. My husband said, “I wish he knew how much things cost.”

Building Others Up–Delivering Constructive Criticism Podcast

Last week on Sport.Org Radio we discussed “accepting constructive criticism,” this week we take a look at “how to deliver constructive criticism.”  To help us understand what the Bible has to say about this important endeavor, we’ll visit with Nett Knox, Australian track and field chaplain, and we’ll also get the thoughts of Glen Korobov of…

The Art Of Constructive Criticism
Sports Spectrum

I’m fascinated by what the television networks call “analysts” or “color commentators.” Their role is to inform the viewer about what is happening and why it is happening that way. Sometimes they do that through praise, and sometimes they do that through criticism. Both have their place—but they must be measured. I think about this,…

Welcome Sounds
Sports Spectrum

On Monday, we discussed the unhappy sounds of conflict that marked the start of the NASCAR season in Daytona. Today, however, we want to consider some much happier sounds—the sounds of Major League Baseball spring training. The pop of mitts and the crack of bats do more than just inform us that America’s pastime is…

Our Story Isn't About Us.

It all started in 1938 with a small radio program called Detroit Bible Class. With his gravelly voice, Dr. M. R. DeHaan quickly captured the attention of listeners in the Detroit area, and eventually the nation. Since then, our audience has grown to millions of people around the world who use our Bible-based resources.

There’s often confusion on what the fruit of the Spirit is and is not. It’s not a list of instructions of how we should live; rather the fruit are qualities we exhibit when we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are set free to live a new life in Christ, no longer indulging in selfish desires but enabled to serve…
